The Religious Significance of Christmas

Christmas is a season of giving and celebrating. In recent years, it has also become a commercialized holiday, with decorations and sales starting in the stores in the beginning of November. The holiday has become more about presents and parties; people decorating homes; and shoppers looking for sales; but people tend to forget the true meaning of Christmas. The origin of Christmas actually began with the birth of Jesus and the events surrounding it, which is also called the Nativity. He was born in Bethlehem to a young mother, outside in a stable and away from friends or family. The humble beginnings of this miraculous day are the true story behind the holiday that we enjoy today. The real reason for Christmas is the birth of a Savior; something to be remembered and celebrated each year.
